Did you know that Predazzo, besides being the most populous municipality in the Avisio valleys (4525 inhabitants), is also the largest? With its 109.97 square kilometers Predazzo is, in fact, the tenth largest municipality in the province of Trento. But what makes it really special is the conformation of its built-up area: unlike most of the municipalities in Val di Fiemme, Predazzo is largely flat and for this very reason, very popular even with those who are not exactly sportsmen, but love to do outdoor activities.
Among the many walks to do around Predazzo, we have chosen one that you absolutely must try, because:
- it is suitable for all ages
- perfect to do with a stroller
- ideal for our four-legged friends,
- wonderful in any season!
Walk along Avisio
(about 30/45 minutes )
It matters little where you decide to start from, if you have the opportunity to do this walk during the autumn months, I assure you that the enchanting “foliage ” that frames this route will not disappoint!
Starting from the bridge in the locality of Birreria, (at the entrance to the village coming from Moena) follow the tree-lined path that runs along the left side of the Avisio stream. Along the walk you will find benches and small wooden play areas, but also four, large, colorful, illuminated letters forming the word: PASTA . Yes, you are skirting the historic headquarters of Pastificio Felicetti, the company founded in 1908 and now in its fifth generation.
When you arrive at the Coste bridge, if you decide to cross it and continue for a few meters along the bike/pedestrian path, you will arrive at the meeting point of the Avisio and Travignolo torrents, the stream that originates on the slopes of the Pale di San Martino, from the melt waters of the Travignolo glacier. In the surrounding green area you will find two large wooden “chaise longues,” perfect for relaxing in the sun, and a small gazebo with a table and bench: the perfect place to have your afternoon snack or a nice picnic beside the river.
To return to the starting point, you can either retrace the same route in the opposite direction or, if you are not in a hurry to get back, you can continue as far as the iron bridge of the bike/pedestrian path and continue along the perimeter of the Guardia di Finanza barracks, reaching the Dolomites state road: turning left, toward the center of town, I recommend taking Via Garibaldi, the road that crosses one of the oldest parts of the town, the district of “Pié di Predazzo”!
Let yourself be fascinated by the most picturesque views, the flowery balconies, follow the path of water through the ancient fountains, discover the wonder of the small Church of San Nicolò…Predazzo’s historic center has a lot to tell, but we’ll tell you more about that later!
