Predazzo: Tradition, Community and Events from 19 to 23 August

In Predazzo, tradition is not something to be preserved only in memories. It is a living heritage that comes back to life in the streets and squares, and above all through the people who keep it alive whenever there is an opportunity to come together.

On Friday, 21 August, the historic centre comes alive with Catanaoc ’n Festa, one of the most distinctive events of the summer. The celebration is dedicated to traditional crafts, local products, food and the desire to share a glimpse of the past — a past that is not as distant as it may seem.

From 7 pm, the village becomes the setting for an evening with an authentic atmosphere, featuring costumed participants, traditional settings, tools, demonstrations and moments inspired by everyday life in times gone by. But Catanaoc ’n Festa is much more than a historical re-enactment.

It is a celebration created by the local community, thanks to the work of associations, organisers and numerous volunteers who come together to create an opportunity for residents and visitors to meet and share an experience.

Between an ancient craft to discover, something delicious to taste, a drink to share and music accompanying the evening, Predazzo tells part of its story once again in one of the most engaging ways possible.

Traditional crafts return to the streets of Predazzo

One of the most distinctive features of Catanaoc ’n Festa is the presence of costumed participants who, through traditional clothing, settings, tools and demonstrations, bring the activities and crafts of the past back to life.

These are gestures and skills that belong to the history of mountain communities and that today risk being known only through the stories of those who experienced them or through old photographs.

During the festival, however, they once again become something tangible.

Visitors can see the tools once used, discover how certain activities were carried out and gain an insight into a way of life in which everyday work was deeply connected to the surrounding territory and its resources.

This is also the value of an event such as Catanaoc ’n Festa: transforming memory into an experience that can be seen, heard and experienced first-hand.

And perhaps it is the younger generations who represent the most important audience of all. Because understanding the past also means having the opportunity to better understand the place where we live today.

A celebration created by the community

The event takes shape thanks to the collaboration between organisers, local associations and numerous volunteers, who work together to prepare the spaces, organise and serve food and drinks, welcome visitors and manage the different activities.

It is precisely this spirit of collaboration that makes the celebration so closely connected to the identity of Predazzo.

Food, music and conviviality in the historic centre

From 7 pm, different locations and gathering points throughout the historic centre will accompany the evening, offering opportunities to eat, drink, listen to music and spend time together.

The best advice is to take your time and explore the village without rushing.

Look around, stop to watch a demonstration, meet the costumed participants, taste some local specialities, listen to the music and let yourself be drawn into the atmosphere.

Because Catanaoc ’n Festa is above all an event to be experienced by walking through the streets of the village and allowing yourself to be surprised by what you discover along the way.

It is a simple and genuine expression of community celebrations, where food becomes an opportunity to come together and tradition becomes a way of connecting with one another.
